Decode Jackson Parish Releases
“Released” describes a physical exit, but it does not always mean a person went home or completed every sentence. A local detainee may leave Jackson Parish Correctional Center on bond, recognizance, a dismissal, a time-served order, probation, or completion of a parish term. Another person may leave the same building in the custody of Louisiana DPS&C, ICE, the U.S. Marshals Service, or another jurisdiction. A death also removes a name from a live list and must never be called a release.
The Jackson Parish Sheriff's Office holds the local booking and release event. The clerk's docket holds the legal reason. Louisiana DPS&C records a state prison release, parole, good-time event, and discharge. Federal Bureau of Prisons and ICE systems answer narrower federal questions. These records are related, yet none can stand in for all the others. The strongest finding pairs the custodial agency's release date and type with the order, bond, sentence, or certificate that explains the change.
A missing Jackson Parish jail entry is a clue. It is not proof of community release, transfer, discharge, or the time the person left.
Jackson Parish Release Types
Read the release code in plain terms before describing the event. Bond ends the current pretrial detention but leaves the case pending. Probation is a court-ordered community sentence or condition. Parole is physical release from a state prison term while the balance remains under DPS&C supervision. A transfer or detainer pickup keeps the person in custody somewhere else.
| Recorded event | What it means | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | Pretrial custody ended under court terms | Jail release screen and bond order |
| Time served or full local term | The listed local custodial part ended | Sentence minutes and processed exit |
| Probation | A judge ordered community supervision | Court minutes and supervision status |
| Parole or diminution | A state prisoner left physical custody under a statutory supervision framework | DPS&C release event and supervision record |
| Transfer or hold pickup | Another authority continued custody | Receiving-agency or detainer field |
| Dismissal or acquittal | A case ended favorably, though another hold may remain | Court disposition plus jail exit |
A bond amount proves only that an amount was set. A parole hearing or grant does not prove that a gate release occurred. Likewise, a time-served minute can establish eligibility while another docket or detainer delays the exit. Use the actual release field.
Jackson Parish Release Record Fields
A complete request should connect entry, authority, and exit. The current sheriff feed publishes booking facts but does not expose the release half of that history. Ask for a booking-and-release packet tied to a name, approximate date, and booking number when known. A precise field list helps the custodian identify an existing record.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name, identifiers, booking number | Connects the release to the correct booking |
| Admission date and time | Marks the start of the local custody event |
| Release date and time | Shows when staff processed the exit |
| Release type or reason | Distinguishes bond, term completion, order, transfer, and other codes |
| Release authority | Links the action to a court, sentence, or responsible agency |
| Hold, detainer, destination | Shows whether custody continued elsewhere |
| Property and system timestamp | Documents administrative completion when maintained |
| Booking photograph | Identifies the image tied to that arrest, subject to current access law |
The public web roster is not the signed release sheet. It is an interface into part of the sheriff's data. Retention can continue after online publication ends, and Jackson Parish has not published a roster-removal interval or historical release archive.
Request Jackson Parish Release Records
The sheriff's posted records material directs written requests by mail to the public-records custodian at 150 Old Winnfield Road, Jonesboro, LA 71251. Because that stored page contains an old officeholder reference and a malformed ZIP line, address the office by title and confirm current instructions at (318) 259-9021 before mailing. Ask for electronic copies and an estimate before chargeable reproduction. No verified local price for a release packet or booking photograph was found.
- Identify the person, booking number, and approximate booking or release period. Avoid sending unrelated personal data.
- Request the existing booking sheet, release screen or log, release authority, transfer or detainer fields, and photograph if needed.
- Ask for the public, segregable portions if another part must be redacted or withheld.
- Keep the request and proof of mailing. If records are not ready, ask for the written cause and expected availability required by current law.
- Match the response to the court docket and ask about any conflict rather than choosing one date without review.
The sheriff's stored written-request policy shows the mailed-request route as captured in July 2026.
The image also explains why a caller should confirm the current custodian and address details before sending the request.
Correct Jackson Parish Release Dates
A state sentence calculation does not belong to the parish jail simply because a prisoner is housed locally. The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections provides two concrete correction routes. A prisoner in a state facility takes a release-date or sentence-calculation issue to that facility's Records Office. A DPS&C prisoner held in a local facility uses the administrative-remedy process. The master prison record is the central calculation record.
The DPS&C Inmate Information page explains both the automated locator and the records correction path.
This distinction prevents a state computation dispute from being sent to the wrong records office. A public-records request can seek releasable facts, but it does not ask a custodian to decide sentence arithmetic.
Match Jackson Court Release Records
Jackson Parish users need two records because the court supplies authority while the jail records the event. A bond order may explain why release was allowed. A dismissal closes one case. A sentence with jail credit can make someone eligible to leave. None of those entries records the exact time jail staff completed the exit or shows whether another hold took effect.
Search the docket for the charge, minute entry, bond order, disposition, sentence, probation order, revocation, dismissal, and release direction. Then compare the full name, docket, booking number, and dates with the sheriff's release record. Clerk Connect's Jackson Parish search provides a remote court index path where available.
The court index can locate the case, while the clerk's record and jail record provide the details needed to distinguish an order from the processed release.
Expunge Jackson Parish Release Records
Louisiana expungement follows Code of Criminal Procedure articles 971 through 995. It generally restricts ordinary public access rather than declaring that the arrest, jail stay, or release never happened. Authorized agencies may retain or access records as law allows. A sealed or expunged matter can therefore explain why a former public result no longer appears.
The Jackson Parish Clerk Criminal Department publishes the local route and four nonrefundable remittances: $50 to the Second Judicial District Attorney, $50 to the sheriff, $250 to the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information, and $200 to the clerk, a displayed total of $550. Those are expungement filing costs, not release-record fees.
The clerk and current statute are the proper starting points. A private image-removal vendor cannot grant a Louisiana expungement.
Find Jackson Parish Released Inmates
Begin with the last known custody type. This keeps a local booking, a Louisiana sentence, federal custody, and civil immigration detention from being mixed into one search. For a named local person, save the current booking details when they are still published, then move to the recorded exit.
- Check Jackson Parish Inmates Info only for the present booking lead. Presence suggests current publication, while absence proves nothing by itself.
- Call the jail at (318) 395-6400. Ask whether the booking was released, transferred, or closed, plus the recorded date, time, type, and receiving agency.
- Search Louisiana LAVNS/VINELink for an exact identity. A state prisoner may appear under custody or community supervision.
- Use the DPS&C automated locator at (225) 383-4580 for a state prisoner, with the DPS&C number or name and date of birth.
- Match the criminal court order or sentence to the jail or DPS&C event.
- Use the BOP or ICE route only when federal facts make that system relevant. Send a focused record request when online tools do not settle the question.
For a same-day interval rather than one named person, the Jackson Parish Jail Releases: 24 Hours page explains the release-log request. No official public 24-hour feed was found.
Jackson Parish Current Feed Limits
The official product is labeled “Inmates Info.” Records inspected on July 20, 2026 exposed a name, age, booking date and time, bond, charge, entry ID, and an image array. The image arrays inspected were empty. No release date, reason, status, transfer field, or 24-hour or 72-hour release module appeared. It is a current-publication tool, not a release archive.
The official Jackson Parish current inmate endpoint displays that limited schema.
Do not filter recent booking dates and call the result a release list. A booking date describes entry, while a release log records exit.
Louisiana Search for Jackson Releases
Louisiana uses LAVNS through VINELink instead of a permanent public DOC profile for every case. DPS&C says the network includes imprisoned people and people under probation or parole community supervision and updates every 24 hours. Select Louisiana, search the exact name, narrow with an ID or case number when available, and compare public identifiers. Read the reporting agency and status literally.
| Search detail | How to use it | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Exact name | Start the person search | Aliases and spelling can block a match |
| ID or case number | Narrow similar names | Field availability varies |
| Agency and location | Identify who supplied the record | A location may be custody or supervision |
| Custody or supervision label | Separate prison, parole, probation, and release events | Not a certified release document |
| Update context | Judge how current the displayed event is | The system is not real time |
A parole label supports physical release to supervision, not full discharge. “Not found” is inconclusive. For formal state evidence, seek the discharge date made public by La. R.S. 15:574.12(G) or the appropriate release document. The official discharge-date statute also explains why the complete prison record cannot be promised to the general public.
The statute supports a focused request for the discharge date and other listed public facts rather than a demand for every confidential departmental record.
Jackson Parish Release Supervision
Probation usually begins with a judge's sentence or suspended sentence. Parole follows release from physical state custody while part of the sentence remains. LAVNS can show community-supervision data supplied to Louisiana's network, and the DPS&C automated locator may identify the applicable Probation and Parole district office. That office, not the Board's hearing calendar, is the practical source for current public supervision status.
- Parole
- Physical release from state custody with the sentence balance served under community supervision.
- Probation
- A court-ordered community sentence or condition that may follow a local jail release.
- Discharge
- The official end of the relevant sentence or supervision obligation.
- Absconder
- A status determined by the supervising authority, not a casual synonym for missing an appointment.
Revocation adds a new event. A P&P warrant description on the sheriff feed is a current booking allegation or hold label, not proof of the prior release date or final revocation decision.
Jackson Work Program Release Status
Jackson Parish Transitional Work Program is listed separately from the correctional center. The program is at 287 Industrial Drive, while the correctional center is at 327 Industrial Drive. A participant remains in legal custody even when the setting looks closer to community life. Placement is not a release.
Ask the program and DPS&C whether the eventual event was a return to secure custody, transfer, parole, discharge, or another authorized departure. No public recent-release list, exit schedule, transportation plan, or gate procedure was found. The DPS&C Jackson Parish locations page shows the two adult correctional contacts as distinct entries.
The separate listings are a useful check against treating a work-program assignment as a community release or merging both offices into one record source.
Jackson Parish ICE Release Checks
Jackson Parish Correctional Center appears in ICE detention material. A person can leave the local roster because ICE transferred the detainee, released the person under an immigration condition, or carried out removal. Those events are not interchangeable. The Online Detainee Locator System is current-custody oriented, so a non-match is not a historical release finding.
Search ODLS with an A-number and country of birth when possible, or use exact biographical details. Then ask the jail and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations to distinguish transfer, release from ICE custody, and removal. Share only the immigration facts needed to identify the custody event. An immigration release also does not clear an unrelated criminal hold.
Current Jackson Release Request Details
The sheriff's current site identifies Sheriff Andy Brown and consistently lists the administrative office at 150 Old Winnfield Road, Jonesboro, LA 71251. The older stored public-records text names a prior sheriff and includes a damaged ZIP line. The mailed-request instruction remains a useful official lead, but the stale details should not be copied into the address line or used to address a named former officeholder.
Call the current main office, address the “Jackson Parish Sheriff's Office Public Records Custodian,” and confirm the destination. The correctional center's physical address and jail numbers come from other official sources and should not be silently merged with the administrative mailing address. A records visit and a mailed request may go to different places.

Jackson Parish Release Source Comparison
Choose the source that owns the event. Current-custody products answer a different question from historical release records. A court order explains authority but may not show physical processing. A notification can corroborate a change, yet it is not the certified instrument.
| Situation | First source | Confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Current local booking | Jackson Parish Inmates Info | Call the jail because feeds can lag |
| Past local release | Sheriff release screen or log | Match court minutes or bond order |
| Louisiana prison release | LAVNS and DPS&C locator | Release document, discharge date, or master-record route |
| Parole or probation | LAVNS and identified P&P district | Court or DPS&C supervision record |
| Federal sentence | BOP Inmate Locator | Federal judgment and responsible agency record |
| ICE detention | ODLS | Facility and ERO statement of transfer, release, or removal |
Juvenile custody remains outside the adult search. A parent, guardian, attorney, or authorized party should use the juvenile court or facility route; public absence cannot confirm a child's release.
Jackson Parish Release Facilities
Jackson Parish Correctional Center is the main local release-record source, though it may hold local, state, and immigration populations. The Transitional Work Program is a separate custody setting. Green Oaks serves juvenile matters through restricted channels. Louisiana DPS&C, BOP, and ICE pages represent wider systems that may hold a person connected to Jackson Parish after transfer or sentence.
- Jackson Parish Correctional Center: local release, transfer, DPS&C, and ICE routes must be separated.
- Jackson Parish Transitional Work Program: placement remains custody until a verified departure event.
- Green Oaks Juvenile Detention Home: authorized juvenile channels only.
- Louisiana DPS&C: statewide prison, parole, diminution, and discharge records.
- Federal Bureau of Prisons: federal sentence and historical released-status search.
- ICE detention network: current locator plus ERO confirmation of the kind of exit.
There is no Louisiana state prison in Jackson Parish. Dixon Correctional Institute is in the town of Jackson in East Feliciana Parish, a name trap that sends inquiries to the wrong institution.
